Alister graduated from University of Edinburgh in 2002 with an MA and M.Arch in Architectural Design. On graduation be received the Martin Hackett Award for his architectural prowess throughout his studies. He completed his professional practice at the AA in London and became registered Architect in the UK. Since he has also become a member of the RIAI.

After graduation he worked in London in both social housing and private residential sectors. He moved to Ireland in 2007 and joined A & D Wejchert & Partner, Architects where he became an associate in 2014. Since joining he has largely been involved in healthcare projects including primary care and acute hospital facilities.

Projects include: Regional Assessment & Treatment Facility for the Central Remedial Clinic at University Hospital Waterford, Education Centre for the Royal College of Surgeons at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda, Sligo General Hospital Development Control Plan, Holy Angels Pre-School and Treatment Centre, Primary Care Centre at St. Otteran’s, Waterford. City and Acute Mental Health Unit at Sligo General Hospital. Many of these projects have been within the disability sector.

He has also gained experience in a wide variety of other projects including Educational Buildings and has worked on a number of PPP bids including Waterford Business School at Waterford Institute of Technology.

He has developed a keen interest in healthcare and community projects and has always enjoyed working at all stages of the architectural design process, believing that the detail and concept can help to inform one another. He strongly believes in the user consultation process. Alister is highly competent in the use of a variety of software packages.

He is currently involved in the design of a five storey ward block and Palliative Care Unit at University Hospital Waterford.
